Last week the Murrumbateman community received news that they will be able to access better mobile and broadband connectivity thanks to the Federal Government’s Regional Connectivity Program.
The new services will enable the uptake of new agricultural and business technologies for a number of wineries, as well as improving access to telehealth and education services for residents.
The Government has contributed $150,000 to the Murrumbateman Fixed Wireless Network project, along with contributions from BullRoarer Networks Pty Ltd.
Through the Regional Connectivity Program, BullRoarer Networks Pty Ltd has deployed a fixed wireless broadband and VoIP network on the eastern side of Murrumbateman.
The Regional Connectivity Program is funding the delivery of ‘place-based’ telecommunications infrastructure projects to improve digital connectivity across regional, rural and remote Australia.
Commenting on the improvements, Member for Eden-Monaro, Kristy McBain, said, “Throughout the pandemic we saw just how important it is for our regional communities to stay connected.
“Programs such as this provide important, improved communications services to Murrumbateman, giving families and businesses better mobile phone service and broadband.
“These improvements will make it easier for businesses to stay connected with customers and stakeholders while also helping locals with learning or working from home and accessing essential telehealth appointments.”
