Last week the Minister of Government Services, Bill Shorten, dropped in to visit the revamped Services Australia service centre in Yass.
Minister Shorten said the new look service centre on Comur Street offered a contemporary layout that made it easier for customers to access services.
“The new, state-of-the-art set-up and upgraded digital facilities will be appreciated by both customers and staff,” Minister Shorten said.
“For customers needing extra support to access online services, digital coaching is available. Customers can call their regular payment line to arrange a coaching session or centre staff can book them in.”
Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories and Member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain welcomed the upgrade of the Yass Service Centre which, she said, played an important role in helping locals understand payments and services, make claims, and set-up online services.
“People who want certainty around when they can speak with a staff member face-to-face or over the phone can now call their regular payment line to book an appointment for a time that works for them,” Minister McBain said.
“We know the Yass Service Centre serves our whole region. The ability to book an appointment will make a huge difference for those who need to plan their days and travel long distances.
“It’s great to see more personalised service options being offered to communities like Yass.”
The Yass service centre continues to operate Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm, with a one-hour break over lunch from 12:30pm.
