Bright yellow signs declaring “We Want Climate Action Now" are popping up on farm gates, shop front windows and front yard fences throughout parts of the NSW Southern Tablelands and the south coast. And it’s building into a national campaign.
Starting as a grass roots response to the Black Summer bushfires, a new not-for-profit organisation Climate Action Now Signs (CANsign) has been established and has recently launched the CANsign website www.cansign.org.au.
The website is now live and taking orders for signs directly from the public at near cost-price. There are pickup depots established at Canberra, Gundaroo, Wamboin, and Collector, Durras and Rosedale, with others being established in other cities. Delivery by Australia Post to anywhere in Australia is also available.
CANsign is also working on designing new signs with Australia’s many nature conservation and environment groups, who between them can boast a collective membership approaching a million people.
CANsign is aiming for a nationally recognised logo around Australia as the symbol for Climate Action. The CANsign logo depicts an alarming melting clock and is soon to appear on a broader range of stickers and new sign designs. Its signage is designed to build awareness and galvanise communities and businesses in the growing effort to combat the effects of climate change on our own and our children’s lives.
Signs come with eyelets, cable ties and key information including recycling.
