Around the world, most people believe global climate change is a pressing concern. There are a lot of differing opinions on whether it’s too late to change the situation and, if it’s not, the best way of going about it.

If you are interested in learning more about climate change, especially as it applies to rivers and oceans, then you are not going to want to miss out on the Climate Action: The Future is Now discussion at the National Museum of Australia.

As part of the British Council’s UK/Australia Season, you will hear from the National Museum of Australia Senior Fellow, Dr Kirsten Wehner and a panel of science, industry and culture leaders from the UK and Australia considering this challenge in relation to rivers and oceans in light of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow (COP26).

The discussion features:

  • Her Excellency Vicki Treadell, British High Commissioner to Australia, who shares her reflections on the UK’s role as COP President in setting the global agenda
  • Kelp ecologist Dr Cayne Layton from the University of Tasmania
  • Oyster scientist Dr Laura Parker from UNSW
  • Managing Director Helen Barclay from eco-technology innovators EnviroDNA.

Date: Friday 23rd September 2022
Time: 6pm – 7:30pm. Doors will open at 5:15pm. Light refreshments will be served.
Location: National Museum of Australia, Lawson Crescent, Acton, ACT 2601.
