At 12:01am on Saturday 11th September parts of regional NSW currently deemed low risk and which have seen zero COVID cases for at least 14 days emerged from lockdown, including the Yass Valley, Upper Lachlan Shire, and nearby Hilltops LGAs. However, the Yass Valley has since been placed back into lockdown due to a single case of COVID-19.
There times are very challenging, to say the least, and apart from an overwhelming desire for consistency and a return to life as we knew it in 2018, there’s a lot of confusion in the community about terminology.
• ‘Quarantine’ rules relate to individuals who have gone venues in which a person with COVID-19 has been. In this instance, the NSW Government gets in touch with everyone who has been to that venue at that time, and individuals must stay at home in quarantine for 14 days just in case they have caught the virus. They will also be tested to see if they have caught the virus.
• ‘Lockdown’ and ‘Stay at home orders’ means that all services and business deemed non-essential by the Government must close their storefronts. People should stay at home as much as possible except for going out to buy groceries, for example. When they are out, they should wear a mask, use hand sanitiser, and check in to shops using the QR reader on their smart phones or sign in using a register.
