Join Camille Kersley, Yass based professional Artist, Artshealth practitioner and Counsellor for a supportive, fun and invigorating “Conversations in Clay” ceramic workshop. There is absolutely no experience necessary (in anything!) to join this workshop.
During this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Employ simple, tactile hand building techniques such as– paddling, adding, pinching etc. when constructing your work.
- Employ ancient and contemporary surface decorating techniques such as impressing, sgraffito, sculpting, and under-glaze painting.
- Attach wet clay parts securely so things don’t fall apart!
- Understand some of clay's idiosyncrasies that can impact your work (shrinkage, memory, personalities)
- Experiment and trust in your own creative processes.
Your completed works (up to two) will be taken by Camille at the end of the workshop for firing. This next process involves an initial firing at 1000c, a clear glaze (liquid glass) applied individually to each piece, and then a second final firing to 1200c. This is a time-consuming process so please allow approximately 3 weeks before the completed works can be collected/delivered
When: 10am – 1pm, Saturday 12th March 2022
Where: St Andrews Church Hall, 2 Cliff Street, Yass, NSW 2582
