Fortem-Launches-Inaugural-42KM-Challenge

Fortem Australia has launched the inaugural 42KM Challenge, encouraging people across the country to stay active during November while raising funds to support first responders.

The challenge involves running, riding, or walking at least 42km during the month of November.

The 42km Challenge mirrors the ‘Team Fortem’ first responders who are running the New York marathon this month to highlight the importance of physical and mental health wellbeing and promote the work of Fortem Australia.

Fortem Managing Director and Co-Founder John Bale says it is a great way for Australians of all different fitness levels to support Team Fortem, and first responders across the country.

“We already have plenty of people who have signed up to complete the 42km. Some teams are planning on knocking it over in one day just like our team of six will on 6th November, while others will use it as a target for the entire month,” said Mr Bale.

Many of Fortem’s services are underpinned by the 5 Ways to Wellbeing: a set of practical lifestyle habits to help us be mentally fit. The 5 Ways to Wellbeing is an evidence-based model that improves mental health and wellbeing.

Mr Bale says the challenge fits in with one of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing: Be Active.

“Being active helps to build resilience and wellbeing, and plays a major role in maintaining mental fitness,” said Mr Bale.

“It helps us to cope with stress, increases energy and confidence, as well as improving mood and quality of sleep.”
