Funding Boost for Yass and Goulburn Historical Sites

Wendy Tuckerman MP announced last week that the Yass and District Historical Society and Riversdale Homestead, Goulburn and have been selected as two of 13 volunteer-led organisations for funding through Round 1 of the NSW Government’s 2021 Museums and Galleries NSW (M&G NSW) Devolved Volunteer Museums Small Grants program.

Minister for the Arts Don Harwin said the funding supports small to medium galleries and museums to enhance their offering to the public. “This funding will facilitate key improvements across our State’s volunteer-led museums and galleries, so that they can continue delivering programs for their local community and visitors to enjoy,” Mr Harwin said.

The Yass and District Historical Society Museum will receive $1,989 to make improvements to their website and purchase specialised storage boxes for its textile collection. Riversdale Homestead will receive $2000 for the production of four sketchbooks owned by Emily Rose Twynam for display at the museum.

The funding recognises the passion of those involved in curating the history of our region. Our rich Aboriginal history and the history of European settlers continue to be a strong drawcard to tourists and others who choose to make their home in the region.
