We received the following letter from a grateful grandmother, whose granddaughter attends Yass Public School:
“As a doting grandparent with an educational background and coming from a teaching family, I am often harsh in my assessment of my grandkids' schooling. So, hats off to Yass Public School on Friday for impressing me with their Year Six graduation event. Not only were meaningful prizes given out, personal acknowledgments given, messages delivered from senior community, business and government members, but more importantly were the personal and thoughtful touches that made each child feel valued and loved.
“The staff at Yass Public School took time out to make a very funny musical, dancing and comedy skit that must have taken hours of their own time to produce and film.
“The kids had a photo stream of them when joining the school and another when graduating, each accompanied by a personal recorded message by each child about what they will miss most from YPS with their photo.
“After singing the school song together, the young students formed an arch of honour for the graduates to walk through on their very own red carpet, before each ringing the old school bell for the last time. There were hugs and tears and pride and laughter.
“The principal, teachers, staff and students are to be congratulated on such a wonderful and meaningful event.
“P.S. Congratulations to my granddaughter for her leadership award!”
