The NSW Department of Education has announced that it is inviting feedback from parents, carers and staff on the “Parent and Carers Engagement Framework”.
The overarching aim of the Framework is for teaching staff, parents and carers to develop a shared understanding of how to work together to support all students and learners throughout their learning journey.
Minister for Education and Early Learning Sarah Mitchell said that students perform better at school when their families are engaged in their education.
“The pandemic has shown us that there are always new ways for parents to engage in their child’s education,” Ms Mitchell said.
“This survey gives parents a chance to tell us what they think the best ways are for their school to communicate with them and what we can improve on.
“Each family and school context are unique, so it’s important for us to hear from a diversity of voices and families about what high-quality engagement means for them.”
The Department will be leveraging the survey’s insights and input from school communities to develop the evidence-based framework.
The new framework will help parents and carers to better understand their rights, responsibilities and choices in the education system. It will also help them have access to timely information about their child's learning, development and wellbeing.

The survey closes on Saturday 30th April 2022.
