It’s all systems go for our Local Council Election, which is being held on Saturday 4th December 2021.
For those not yet in the know, local councils are responsible for:
- Public health (including health inspections of shops)
- Local roads and footpaths
- Street signs and bus stops
- Local kindergartens and pre-schools
- Local libraries
- Local sports fields and playgrounds
- Community services such as meals-on-wheels
- Building regulations and development
- Garbage collection.
Local councils are not responsible for schools, hospitals, State conservation and environment, highways, railways and public transport, public works, agriculture and fishing, industrial relations, community services, sport and recreation, consumer affairs, police, prisons and emergency services.
The following are the polling places in the Yass Valley:
- Binalong Public School, 4th December 8am – 6pm
- Bowning Community Hall, 4th December 8am – 6pm
- Yass, St Clements Anglican Church Hall:
- pre-polling from 22nd November to 3rd December from 9am-5pm
- 4th December 8am – 6pm
- Murrumbateman Community Church, 4th December 8am - 6pm
- Gundaroo Public School, 4th December 8am - 6pm
- Walleroo, Wattle Park Church Hall, 4th December 8am – 6pm
- Sutton Public School, 4th December 8am – 6pm.
