Murrumbateman Recreation Reserve is about to receive a major upgrade to improve facilities and boost participation through the NSW Government’s Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund.
$1.4 million from the Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund will be awarded to Yass Valley Council to construct a $2.1 million new multipurpose amenities facility, centrally located within the Murrumbateman Recreation Grounds, which will provide facilities to support the multiple sporting groups and recreation ground users including: Little Athletics, Tennis Club, Pony Club, Yass District Cricket Association, Murrumbateman Eagles (AFL) Football Club, Dazzle Dance Academy, Yoga, National Karate Club.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said the funding was one of 39 projects funded across the State as part of the NSW Government’s commitment to turbocharge the take-up of community sport.
“This funding will modernise the amenities block for the local sports and community groups who use the Murrumbateman Recreation Reserve and enable more Murrumbateman locals to enjoy the benefits of sport and active recreation,” Mrs Tuckerman said.
“Sport is part of the fabric of our communities and the NSW Government has a strong track record of investing in grassroots sport to deliver modern, accessible facilities.”
Yass Valley Council Mayor Allan McGrath welcomed the announcement.
“Murrumbateman is our fastest growing village. This much needed funding will help us in providing the required amenities for the current and future user groups of the facility.”
The Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund provides grants between $1 million and $5 million for new or upgraded sport facilities.
