National Wine Sector Bush Fire Conference

The National Wine Sector Bush Fire Conference was held in late May 2021, and Wine Australia has recently advised that recordings of the conference speakers are available online.

The conference comprised a wide range of in-depth presentations, research updates, practical bushfire preparedness, and best practice techniques for smoke effects and recovery from fire. The conference was held in simultaneously at four locations:

• NSW | International Convention Centre, Sydney
• SA | Adelaide Hills Convention Centre, Hahndorf
• VIC | Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre, Wangaratta, and
• WA | Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, South Perth.

Four topics/sessions were covered:

1 .Regional Overview: Vintage 2019–20 2. Vineyard preparation, response & recovery 3. Best practice smoke taint analysis and industry sensory experiences 4. Research updates and mitigation in practice
