Old Murrumbateman Primary School

The Murrumbateman community will be benefiting from a new primary school sooner than expected with the 2020-21 NSW Budget released on the 17th of November including funding for the new school -fast tracked as part of the Government’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan.

Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman said the allocation of $3 million in 2020-21 to commence construction of a new primary school at Murrumbateman demonstrates the NSW Government’s commitment to delivering the project as soon as possible. “The new school will accommodate up to 370 students and will deliver 16 learning spaces, including special education spaces, a library, covered outdoor learning area, administration facilities and green space,” Mrs. Tuckerman said.

Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell said the new primary school will be a valuable addition to the local community. “I’m proud that we are continuing our record investment in school infrastructure, particularly in regional and rural NSW,” Ms Mitchell said.

This commitment builds upon the recent announcement of a site for the new primary school. Located at 2 Fairley Street, Murrumbateman, the new school will be located on a 1.5-hectare site in the centre of town with dual road frontage. Mrs Tuckerman recently visited the site and inspected the Community Engagement Hub. Located onsite, the Hub provided the community with an opportunity to meet members of the School Infrastructure NSW team to learn more about the plans and the building process.

The NSW Government is investing $6.7 billion over four years to deliver more than 190 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW. This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the history of NSW.
