Opportunity to connect before it’s too late

The inaugural Yass Valley Suicide Prevention Network meeting was held on March 30, 2021.

The Network welcomes 12 new members, who are service providers and people with lived experience.

Our overarching goal to raise awareness.

We aim to connect people with wellbeing activities and point the way to services, bring education and training for the community and advocate for long-term needs like funding and services in the region.

Group membership brings more meaningful solutions to the table. It provides new insights and information that need to be discussed further.

We want people to have an opportunity to connect and to talk, whether it’s with a professional service, or to maintain good mental health by joining a hobby group and sporting club.

If the community is armed with the knowledge and confidence to see the signs that someone needs help, they can ask that difficult question “Are you thinking of suicide?” and what to do to help them from that point.

The next meeting is at 5:30pm on May 4 at Yass Valley Council Chambers. People can join via Zoom also. Space is limited due to COVID-19 safety precautions, so please register to attend by contact 0429 036 579 or email YassValleySPN@gmail.com
