With the recent heavy rains here, and the severe flooding we have seen up north, it is timely that Yass Valley Council is launching the Resilience NSW Project. Like other areas impacted by fires, drought, floods, and other disasters, we know we need to change how we do things to respond to climate change.
Delivered through local government, the Resilience Blueprint works with national and state government, emergency services, researchers, businesses, and communities to build on our collective knowledge and experiences to make us future-ready.
The Resilience Blueprint will focus on protecting and investing in what matters most to our area. It will provide a range of adaptable tools and options for better preventing, preparing, responding, and recovering from disaster events and cumulative climate change impacts. It will also provide a powerful evidence base for getting grants, such as those for targeted investment in resilient infrastructure, and for supporting community growth and development.
The Yass Valley Council is inviting the community to participate in the Resilience Blueprint. The Council wants to hear from you about what you most value, your capacity, and capabilities to protect these things, and how you make decisions about them. The Council is asking the same questions, and the collective responses will inform the Resilience Blueprint and support the collective actions needed to make us more resilient to a changing climate.
As we start this project, the Council invites you to complete a short survey to identify what is important to protect.
