Last week Tilt Renewables, the company responsible for the Rye Park Wind Farm, advised that the first 6MW turbine was successfully installed on site. This turbine, the Vestas V162 6.0MW, is the largest in Australia to date, and has a tip height of 200 metres. It is the first of 66 such machines to be installed at the 396MW Rye Park Wind Farm north of Yass.
So far, 38 of the 66 wind turbine foundations have been poured and the delivery of wind turbine components are ongoing, although progress was hampered by last year’s rainy weather.
The company is also undertaking further temporary repairs on Grassy Creek Road and the Yass Street causeway. They are currently considering how to approach the damaged sections of Grassy Creek Road before putting a permanent fix in place. The solution will be developed in consultation with council to ensure it is an appropriate long-term fix.
Upgrade works are planned for Cooks Hill Road, including stump grinding and gravel placement.
They also advise that repair works and upgrades continue with regular maintenance grades on unsealed roads used by project vehicles.
Expect delays and diversions on the following roads:
- Grassy Creek Road
- Rye Park Road
Please follow traffic controls and road work speed limits.
