Southern Tablelands Arts (STA) is an organisation that based in Goulburn, and is free to join for artists, organisations and cultural groups living within any of the following six contributing councils: Goulburn Mulwaree, Hilltops, Upper Lachlan Shire, Wingecarribee Shire, Wollondilly Shire and Yass Valley.
Last week STA announced that it has received a funding boost from the NSW Government.
The NSW Government, through Create NSW, will invest over $3.4 million in the Regional Arts Network in 2021/22. This includes $200,000 per annum to each Regional Arts Development Organisation, such as STA, across the state. This is an increase from $168,000 in core operational funds in 2020/21.
Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman welcomed the additional funding for STA, saying “STA plays such an important role in developing our local culture offering and in supporting our artists - this funding will boost both entertainment and economic outcomes across the region.”
Rose Marin, Executive Director of STA said the funding eases the pressure on the organisation. “STA is currently running at capacity; we will be feeding this funding back through the community with a local employment opportunity. This will help keep our local creatives closer to home.
“It will provide a much-needed boost for the arts and cultural sector during a really exciting time for arts in Goulburn and the entire region- lots of layers are all coming together with the Performing Arts centre, Creative Precinct facilities opening soon”, Ms Marin said.
