Wine Australia Webinar

The NSW Wine Industry Association (NSWWIA) advise that following a busy time in May they are now working through a myriad of opportunities that will occur in the new financial year, plus tying up the following loose ends:

• ERWSP State Tourism Grant. This was a $1m federal grant issued to NSW, which was matched by a further $1m from the NSW Government. The project has now been completed, submitted and approved by Wine Australia. Whilst there were significant challenges in running a project to attract international tourists to NSW wine regions in a time of COVID, it’s anticipated that the project’s legacy will be significant. In the next weeks, NSWWIA will go out to regions to present the outcomes, plus publish a final report.

• NSW Wine MoU. Now that the MOU is signed and in place, work has commenced with the NSW Government. NSWWIA has also formed committees to look after the important areas of Export plus Domestic Trade and Tourism. More to come in early July.

• Bushfire Grant. As part of the State Government support package from the 2020 bushfires, the NSWWIA received and is working on six projects. These include research projects with Charles Sturt University and the AWRI. NSWWIA aims to report on these projects in July.

• AgSkilled 2.0. This is a program provided by the NSW Government to assist in training people in a number of Agricultural industries including viticulture. There will be a large program of single units of competency available to provide the NSW wine industry with new and updated skills across Viticulture, Cellar Operations and Cellar Doors. Units are being finalised with both NSW TAFE and Tocal Agricultural College and will be published both on the NSWWIA website, plus also a dedicated AgSkilled website in the 2nd week of July.
