The New Yass Valley Council

On the 12th January 2022, eight out of the nine newly-elected Yass Valley Councillors were sworn in. The new Councillors are Adrian Cameron, Allan McGrath, Cayla Pothan, Cecil Burgess, Jasmin Jones, Jim Abbey, Kim Turner, Kristin Butler and Mike Reid.

The new Yass Valley Councillors elected a new Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Councillor Allan McGrath was elected as Mayor and Councillor Jasmin Jones was elected as Deputy Mayor for the first time. Councillor McGrath secured five out of nine votes, beating Councillor Kim Turner, who also nominated for the position of Mayor. Councillor Jones secured five out of nine votes, beating Councillors Cayla Pothan and Kim Turner, who also nominated for the position of Deputy Mayor. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will serve a shorter term, until September 2023.

The Ordinary Meeting of Council will be held at 4:00 pm on the fourth Thursday of every month during 2022.

Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee
Mayor Allan McGrath and Councillor Jim Abbey were appointed to the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.
