Council staff now estimate the total damage to Council assets from the floods to be more than $2.5 million.

Crews have spent the past week assessing damage and fixing critical safety issues, particularly along roads and around recreational facilities.

Roads

Murrumbateman Road remains closed between Patemans Lane and Nanima Road. Safety barriers and equipment are on track to be delivered in the middle of this week to reopen one lane across Dam Break Creek to provide access to traffic and enable repair work to begin.

One lane reopened on Black Range Road on Thursday, 11th August.

Motorists should exercise caution when crossing the temporary crossing. Woolgarlo Road has reopened. Motorists should exercise caution when travelling across the damaged culvert.

Morton Avenue will reopen shortly.

Both Booths Crossing and Yass River low-level crossing remain closed.

Riverbank Park

Play equipment at Riverbank Park was heavily impacted by the flood due to its proximity to Yass River. Council has therefore made the decision to close the play equipment.

Council will now undertake an assessment of the play area before taking any steps towards replacing the equipment.

If you would like to make a report on something that needs to be assessed or repaired, Council asks that you please lodge a Customer Service Request on Council’s website or send an email to council@yass.nsw.gov.au with all of the details. Please do not call or email individual staff directly.

For updates on road closures, please monitor Council’s website.

If you have been directly impacted by flooding, please visit:https://www.nsw.gov.au/disaster-recovery/disaster-relief-and-support.

Council understands the frustration that this damage has caused, and says it shares this frustration too. Thank you to those who have shown us patience and understanding during this time. Further updates will be provided on Council’s website and Facebook page.
