Yass Valley Veterinary (Yass Veterinary Hospital and Murrumbateman Veterinary Hospital) is seeking dogs to give blood donations.
In the veterinary hospitals veterinarians regularly see patients who desperately require blood or blood products to save their lives. Sometimes, these patients are so critical that a trip into Canberra may take too long for them to receive the treatment they need in time. For this reason, they are seeking to start a blood bank at Yass Valley Veterinary to ensure they can always provide our patients the best chance.
Dogs who are able to donate blood must:
• Weigh over twenty kilograms.
• Be between one and eight years of age.
• Be clinically fit and healthy, as deemed by a veterinarian.
• Have never travelled outside of Australia or have received a blood transfusion.
• Be of good temperament and be able to sit still for ten minutes.
• Be up to date with vaccinations, deworming, heartworm, flea, and tick prevention.
• Not be currently receiving any medication.
If you think this is something you are interested in or think you could help, please give them a call on (02) 6226 4444.
